The present Executives of the Federation of Omi Student Union, FOSU, have made their mission to serve Omi students and give back to Ode-Omi Kingdom,
Within this session, FOSU has carried out 3 major projects since January to June 2026 aimed at improving the health, academic performance and future of Omi students. Below are the projects:
PROJECT 1: MENSTRUAL HYGIENE TALK & SANITARY PAD DISTRIBUTION
Venue: Omi Community Grammar School
Beneficiaries: Female Students of Omi Community Grammar School
FOSU organized a menstrual hygiene sensitization program for our girls in Omi Community Grammar School. The goal was to educate our young girls on proper menstrual hygiene, break the silence around menstruation and provide them with the materials they need to stay in school with confidence. During the program, FOSU executives gave a talk on;
1. What is menstruation and how to manage it safely
2. How to maintain hygiene during periods
3. Breaking myths and stigma around menstruation
After the talk free sanitary pads were distributed to all female students present. This project ensures that no Omi girl misses school because of her period
Students and Teachers were present during the lecture. The Students listened and questions were all answered
We also appreciate Chief Prophet Obamoluwa for his support, donation and sponsoring the menstrual talk project
PROJECT 2: ONE-DAY TALK ON JAMB & WAEC ORIENTATION
Venue: Omi Community Grammar School
Beneficiaries: SS2 & SS3 Students
Coordinated by Comr. Dahunsi James and Comr. Olasunkanmi and the present President of Nailgos Comr. Femi Owolabi understanding that exams are the gateway to higher education, FOSU organized a one-day orientation talk for students preparing for JAMB and WAEC
The Session Covered:
1. How to register and prepare for JAMB and WAEC
2. Common mistakes to avoid during exams
3. Time management and reading techniques
Experienced FOSU members and past Omi students who excelled in JAMB/WAEC were on ground to mentor the students and answer their questions
Our goals is to increase the number of Omi students gaining admission into tertiary institution
PROJECT 3: GOOGLE MEET LECTURE ON STUDY TECHNIQUES THAT WORK
Platform: Google Meet
Beneficiaries: Omi Students in Tertiary Institution and Across Nigeria & Abroad
Coordinated By: FOSU EXCOS '26.
FOSU took learning beyond classroom with virtual lecture on academic excellence. Top Omi students and professional like Prince Deji Akinyelure and Comr. Olajide Akinola in different fields joined the Google meets to teach:
1. How to read smart and retain information
2. How to balance school, work, and personal life
3. Exam preparation strategies that guarantee success
4. How to use technology for learning
Omi students from different universities joined the session live. The lecture was recorded and shared to the FOSU Whatsapp group for those who couldn't attend. The project proves that FOSU is connecting all Omi students in higher institution.
We call on more Omi indigenes home and abroad to partner with us so we can do more
